The misuse of religious authority has done untold harm to countless people. Maybe that's not phrased quite right. It's more like, the use of religious authority has done untold harm. The kingdom of God is not hierarchical in nature. It is not a top-down structure. Instead, it's bottom-up. The greatest is the servant. Beware of those who long to be teachers -- to paraphrase James. Who will go up to heaven for you? Behold, God is with is, in your heart and on your lips. The Son of Man came to serve, not to be served.
Equality. Brotherhood and sisterhood under the kind, loving, generous Fatherhood. One God above all, through all, and in all.
There are no left hand and hight hand positions in the kingdom. There are no benefactors. Anyone attempting to stand in your way of encountering God is not standing for God. Religious authority is the largest oxymoron ever applied to the kingdom of God.
